Waldfest Amras

Um 8h50 wird in der Heiligkreuzkapelle z´samm geläutet

  Pfarrer Patrick Busskamp hat zum Patrozinium der Heiligkreuzkapelle statt einer Predigt die Geschichte „Der Traum der drei Bäume“ vorgelesen. 

Diese Geschichte, deren Autorin, wenn man es googelt, Angela Elwel Hunt ist, scheint mir einen ältere zu sein. Zumindest ist die Geschichte im Aufbau ähnlich, wie die Raumplanungsnovelle* „Wie viel Erde braucht der Mensch“ die von Leo Tolstoi nach altem russischem Volksgut nacherzählt wurde. Wer auch immer der Autor/in ist. Gut, dass solche Geschichten dann und wann ausgegraben und nacherzählt werden. *) passt jedenfalls gut zum Thema Flächennutzung.

By the mass celebrated by Father Patrick Busskamp in solemnity for the Holy Cross Chapel, he read, in place of a sermon, the story "The Dream of the Three Trees". A Google search brings up Angela Elwel Hunt as the author, although it seems to me to be older than that. At least it's similar in composition to Leo Tolstoy's "urban planning" novella (in any case it fits to the theme of land use), "How Much Land Does a Man Require?", itself taken after an old Russian tale. Whoever the original author is. It's good that such stories are pulled out and read every so often.

Detail eines Gedenkkreuzes am Tummelplatz. Auch wenn ich den Verdacht habe, dass es sich dieser Schlange nicht um den eherne aus Numeri 21,4-9 handelt hatte ich es doch kurz vor der Lesung entdeckt und es scheint mir dazu zu passen.

Ein recht anschaulicher Kreuzstamm auf einer anderen Heiligkreuzkirche: in Norcia

 In diesem Falle konnte mit der Geschichte gut der Bogen von der Heiligkreuzkapelle zum Wald bzw. umgekehrt hergestellt werden. Die Innsbrucker Forstverwaltung hat, wenn auch nicht die Träume, so doch den Lebensweg der Bäume anschaulich dargestellt. 

Es ging auf einem Parkour, durchaus eher weglos, von Tantegert aus in einer Schleife bergab ostwärts in Richtung Forstmeile, wo am Pfad die natürliche „Geburt“, sowie die Aufforstung von Schlagflächen anhand realer Beispiele gezeigt wurden. Dann folgten Stationen der Waldpädagogik (z.B. die Bestimmung von schwarzen und roten Holunder), Barfußweg, Schädlingsbekämpfung und zuletzt am nahe des Oberen-Gang-Wegs Schlägerung und Bringung. 

The story successfully created a connecting arc from the Holy Cross chapel to the forest and back. The Innsbruck Forestry Service offered visual display of the lives of trees, if not of their dreams.
This consisted of a circuit, mostly off-path, from Tantegert heading downhill and east in the direction of Forstmeile, from “birth” to afforestation of clearings, with actual examples on hand. The tour included educational stations (showing for instance the identification of black and red elder trees), a barefoot path,  information on pest control and,  lastly, the logging and transport of trees.

Gruppensetzen ist in. Nicht nur in. Es ist eine alte Weisheit, dass man junge Bäume in Gruppen setzen muss.  Bei Laubholzaufforstungen für Nutzholz beginnt man das vermehrt zu machen, um auch wirklich geraden Wuchs (durch Konkurrenz der eng stehen Bäumchen) zu erreichen. Group planting is in. Not just in — it is an old piece of wisdom, that young trees be planted in groups. Where clearings are reforested with deciduous trees for lumber, the seedlings are planted close together in order that they grow straight.

Waldpädagogik. Ein wenig sah die Auswahl nach Animismus und Schamanismus aus - tatsächlich ging es aber darum, was im Wald zu finden ist. Wobei.... der Schamanismus baut ja auch darauf auf?
Forest pedagogy. While some of it looked like animism (or shamanism),  it mainly showed what one finds in the forest. However... that would be, after all, on what shamanism is based.

Ein Sachverständiger des Forstamtes erklärt, was man aus den Jahresringen abseits des Alters lesen kann. Z.B. zeigen die die dunklen Ringe die Spätwuchsphase des Baumes. Sind diese in einem Sektor stärker,  so zeigen sie dprt gegen die Hauptwindrichtung. Mehr weiß der Dendrologe (allerdings nicht die Wikipedia).
A Forestry Office expert explains, what can be learned from a tree’s rings aside from its age. For example, the dark rings show a late growth phase. The side on which they grow shows the primary direction of the wind. A dendrologist could tell us even more (although Wikipedia can’t).

Sozusagen als Begleitmelodie konnte man sich die Nutzung des geschlagenen Holzes ansehen z.B. als Schwellen der Iglerbahn, am Tummelplatz als Kreuze und zuletzt beim Frühschoppenzelt für Bänke und Musikinstrumente.  

Using the Paschberg as a counterpoint to the main theme (so to speak),  one can see the fallen wood being utilized for the Igler Railway’s ties, for crosses at the Tummelplatz, or for benches and music instruments for the traditional after-church social.

Holz I: Das Holz muss allerdings am Paschbeerg erst noch wachsen. das für Bahnschwellen bevorzugten eichen und Buchenholz kommt erst auf. Vielleicht zum 250´er der Igler?
Wood I: Trees on the Paschberg would need to grow larger in order to be used for ties, and the preferred wood is oak and beech. Perhaps by the railroad’s 250th anniversary?

Holz II: Die Kreuze am Tummelplatz, die nun nach und nach renoviert werden.

Holz III: Auch dieses wird am Paschberg vielleicht erst wachsen müssen. Denn Musikholz, wie Linde oder Ahorn ist erst im Kommen. Anderserseits wusste ich nicht, dass auch dei Fichte ein Klangholz ist.  Das Schneiderhäusl Trio spielt aber bereits jetzt auf!
Wood III:  This would have to wait, as the wood used for musical instruments — linden or maple, for example, is just beginning to get a foothold on the Paschberg. On the other hand, I hadn’t known that spruce is a tonewood. But the Schneiderhäusl Trio has begun to play!

 
Das Waldfest in Amras war gut besucht – doch haben ungleich mehr Menschen den Weg ins Landestheater gefunden. Es wird wohl nicht an der Werbung auf dem paschberg-blog gelegen haben;-)  

The Forest Party at Amras was well attended — but many more found their way to the Landestheater’s Theaterfest. Probably not because it was advertised here on this blog....

Hier gab es neben echten handverlesenen Amraser Kartoffeln u.a. den Tummeplatzburger.
Delicacies included genuine hand-harvested Amras potatoes as well as the “Tummelplatzburger”.

Das ist die Grenze, wo ich Platzangst bekomme. Dort, wo diese (und uns) überwunden haben war es aber beeindruckend:
Here is the limit beyond which I feel claustrophobic. But that was overpowered — as we were — by the impressive performances.
